MUREL E. BEAVER

BLOOMFIELD.  MUREL E. BEAVER, age 81 of Bloomfield died August 22, 2006 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield.  He was born June 28, 1925 in Farmington, Arkansas to Loss W. and Minnie Swope Beaver.  He married Joan McGee  May 27, 1951 in Memphis, Missouri.  He served in the United States Army during World War II in the 106th Infantry Division and was in Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge.  He had been a resident of Bloomfield since 1951 and was a lineman for the REC in Bloomfield for several years.  He was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church and Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield.  He was a 58 year member and Past Master of Ottumwa Lodge #16 AF & AM and Franklin Lodge #14 AF & AM in Bloomfield.  He was also a District Lecturer and Past Junior Grand Steward of the Grand Lodge of Iowa AF & AM.

He is survived by his wife;  2 sons  Kelly Beaver of Bloomington, Illinois and Kevin Beaver of Hobart, Oklahoma;  3 grandchildren and a sister Sybil Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents;  a son  Keith Beaver and a sister  Loss Ann McNeil.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday  August 26, 2006 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. James Wakelin officiating.  Burial with graveside military rites by Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.  Open visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Friday.  Masonic services by Ottumwa Lodge #16 AF & AM, will be at 6:30 PM Friday with family visitation following until 8:00 PM.  A memorial has been established to the Davis County Boys Little League.
