BLOOMFIELD. CHARLES EDDIE HANCOCK, age 84 of Bloomfield died September 13, 2006 at Hospice House in Ottuwma. He was born May 17, 1922 in Murphysboro, Illinois to Art and Ruth B. White Hancock and was raised by his grandparents George and Eulah White. He married Mary L. Jones June 7, 1947 in Lancaster, Missouri. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He lived most of his life in Davis and Appanoose County. He did body and fender work and also worked at John Deere. He was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church, Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield, VFW and DAV.
He is survived by his wife; 2 daughters Shelia Ann (Steve) Armstrong of Marshalltown and Cindy (Dave) Eakins of Bloomfield; 4 grandchildren Lisa Zimmerman, Tammy Brown, Katie Eakins and Kevin Eakins; a great granddaughter Tana Jo Eakins and 4 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers killed in World War II Wayne and Roger Hancock and a great grandson.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday September 16, 2006 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. James Wakelin officiating. Burial with graveside military rites by Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield, will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Friday with the family present from 6:00-7:30 PM. A memorial has been established to Hospice, Inc. |
