BLOOMFIELD. PAUL SHERMAN HOUGLAND, age 97 of Bloomfield
died May 2, 2006 at his home. He was born April 6, 1909 in Davis
County, Iowa to Ed and Thressa Horner Hougland. He married Hilda
I. Wilson August 9, 1930 in Bloomfield, Iowa. She preceded him in
death November 15, 2005. He was a resident of Davis County most
of his life and was a farmer and school bus driver. He was a member
of the Barker United Methodist Church.
He is survived by 4 sons Jerry (Marilyn) Hougland
of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, James (Charlotte) Hougland of Bloomfield,
David (Marlene) Hougland of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Charles (Diane)
Hougland of Milo, Iowa; 4 daughters Helen (Art) Fuhr of Florissant,
Missouri, Doris (Bob) Newton of Bloomfield, Iowa, Virginia (DeWayne)
Mullinix of Downing, Missouri and Phyllis (Vernon) Roe of Des Moines,
Iowa; 2 daughter-in-laws Sally Hougland of Indianola, Iowa and Carolyn
Hougland of Sherwood, Arkansas; 40 grandchildren; 75 great grandchildren;
27 great great grandchildren and a sister Maxine Slavin of Memphis,
Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife;
2 sons Harold and Alfred Hougland; a granddaughter Lee Anne Fuhr;
3 brothers Brayton, Asher and Marquis Hougland and a sister Lyrla
May Hougland.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Friday May
5, 2006 at the Barker United Methodist Church in Scotland County,
Missouri with Barb Hagerla and Dee Wiley officiating. Burial will
be in the Barker Cemetery in Scotland County, Missouri, adjacent
to the church. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Thursday at the
Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with the family present from
6:00-8:00 PM. A memorial has been established to the Barker United
Methodist Church. |
