BLOOMFIELD. MAX E. LEON, age 88 of Bloomfield died October 28, 2006 at the Bloomfield Care Center. He was born April 11, 1918 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Frank and Mayme Ekins Leon. He married Eldora Jones July 22, 1939 in Memphis, Missouri. She preceded him in death October 1, 2005. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a resident of Davis County most of his life and was a custodian at the Davis County Schools for several years. He was affiliated with the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and was a member of Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield.
He is survived by a daughter Mary Lynn (Joe) Stufflebeam of Bloomfield; a brother L.E. Rufus Leon of Bloomfield; 3 sisters Mary Ann Frymoyer and Florence Modrell both of Ottumwa and Helen Howell of Mesa, Arizona.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; a daughter Karen Leon and 5 brothers Jack, Joe and Van Leon and 2 brothers in infancy.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday October 31, 2006 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Burial of the cremains will be in the Pulaski Cemetery in Pulaski, Iowa, Thursday November 2, 2006 at 11:00 AM with graveside military rites by Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Monday with the family present from 6:00-7:30 PM. Memorials have been established to the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and the Alzheimer’s Association.
