JACOB WILLIAM “BILL” LORTON

MILTON. JACOB WILLIAM “BILL” LORTON, age 90 of Keosauqua and former Milton resident died January 1, 2006 at the Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua, Iowa. He was born February 1, 1915 in Van Buren County, Iowa to Jacob Otto and Minnie Mary McDaniel Lorton. He married Winifred “Winnie” Teter July 13, 1933 in Memphis, Missouri. She preceded him in death November 25, 2005. He was a farmer and had worked at the Armstrong Tire Company in Des Moines, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Milton Christian Church.

He is survived by a son Gary (Kay) Lorton of Bloomfield; a daughter Shirley (Charlie) Gandy of Altoona, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a great granddaughter; 2 brothers Lawrence and Thomas Lorton and 3 sisters Margaret Lewandowski, Ruth Lorton and Alice Newcomb.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Thursday January 5, 2006 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Joanne Schlegel officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Wednesday with the family present from 6:00-7:30 PM. A memorial in lieu of flowers has been established to the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center.
