PULASKI. WILLIAM E. METCALF, age 81 of Pulaski, Iowa died September 9, 2006 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield. He was born September 1, 1925 in Bloomington, Illinois to William Thomas and Estella Adell Yarder Metcalf. He married Ginger Shute May 13, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a farmer and had been a resident of Pulaski since 1968. He was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and the American Legion in Delavan, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife; 2 daughters Mary (Wayne) Rogers and Brenda Whisler both of Pulaski; a son Terry (Cindy) Metcalf of Fulton, Missouri; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 5 sisters Edith May of Bloomfield, Mary Jurgens of Naples, Florida, Betty Loveridge of Gilbert, Arizona, Beverly Groenewold of Delavan, Illinois and Callie Hauptli of Mesa, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Jerry Metcalf; a son-in-law Jay Whisler and 2 sisters Beatrice Lamie and Helen Hackney.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday September 13, 2006 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial with graveside military rites by Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield, will be in the Pulaski Cemetery in Pulaski, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Tuesday with the family present from 6:00-8:00 PM. A memorial has been established to the Pulaski Fire Department.
