WILLIAM B. ASHMEAD

BLOOMFIELD: WILLIAM B. ASHMEAD, 79, of Bloomfield, Iowa died December 17, 2007 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield.  He was born March 19, 1928 in Pontiac, Michigan to Carl B. and Agnes Small Ashmead.  He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.  He married Marianne Pirtle June 12, 1949 in Bloomfield, Iowa.  He owned and operated a hardware business in Solon, Iowa and later in Lancaster, Missouri.  He was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, 3 daughters; Cay Zwicki of Ottumwa, Joan Wildman of Iowa City and Chris Welsh of Kansas City, Missouri, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren,  2 brothers; Albert Ashmead of Lancaster, Missouri and Jack Ashmead of Tempe, Arizona, and 1 sister; Mary Eaton of Sierra Vista, Arizona.      

He was proceeded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be at 11:00am on Friday December 21, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Rev. James Wakelin officiating.  Burial of the cremains will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.  The family will be at the funeral home Friday at 10:00am until the time of the service to greet friends.  A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield Christian Church.
