MICHAEL J. AUGSPURGER

OTTUMWA.  MICHAEL J. AUGSPURGER, 52 of Ottumwa, Iowa died November 27, 2007 at his home.  He was born February 13, 1955 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Larry A. and Darlene L. Murphy Augspurger.  He was a 1973 graduate of Davis County High School in Bloomfield and attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.  He was a member of the Mennonite Church in rural Pulaski, Iowa.  He worked all of his life as a journalist for newspapers including those in Chariton, Bloomfield, Ottumwa and Burlington and received several state and national awards for his journalistic work.  He also served as mayor of Bloomfield in the mid-1980’s.

He is survived by a daughter Nyla Howell of Newton, Iowa;  an uncle; aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents and a sister Peg Augspurger.
