RAY DYKES

BLOOMFIELD.  RAY DYKES, age 74 of Bloomfield died February 2, 2007 at Hospice House in Ottumwa, Iowa.  He was born June 28, 1932 in Ames, Iowa to Ace R. and Alice A. Blair Dykes.  He married Elaine Longnecker  June 16, 1953 in New York City, New York.  He had been a resident of Davis County since 1969.  He was a farmer and law enforcement officer.  He served as Sheriff of Davis County for 16 years.  He was a member of the Davis County Cattlemen’s Association, Farm Bureau, Retread Motorcycle Club and was a former member of the Iowa Sheriff and Deputies Association and American Trike Association.

He is survived by his wife;  a son  Darvin (Kim) Dykes of Bloomfield, Iowa;  a daughter  Dixie (Fred) Hickcox of Ogden, Iowa;  grandchildren  Clint Markley, Brock and Kyla Dykes and a great granddaughter  Alanna Markley.

He was preceded in death by his parents;  2 infant daughters and 2 sisters.

The body has been cremated at his request.  The family will be at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield for a celebration of his life from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday February 7, 2007.  Memorials in lieu of flowers have been established to Hospice, Inc. and the Living Hope Bible Church.
