VERA D. YORK

BLOOMFIELD.  VERA D. YORK, age 77 of Bloomfield died February 13, 2007 at the Bloomfield Care Center.  She was born October 30, 1929 in Queen City, Missouri to Alfred and Leah Steen Voorhies.  She married Max York  December 11, 1947 in Newton, Iowa.  She had been a resident of Bloomfield most of her life and was a nurses aid at the Davis County Hospital for 15 years, retiring in 1979.  She was a member of the Savannah Christian Church and the Ottumwa Chapter of the Iowa Artist Association.

She is survived by her husband;  a daughter  Trudy Reyes of Bloomfield;  2 sons  Dale Russ York of Keosauqua, Iowa and Terry York of Loveland, Colorado;  10 grandchildren;  12 great grandchildren and a brother  Bill Voorhies of Chickasha, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  2 brothers  Wally and Lee Voorhies and a sister  Peggy Horning.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Friday February 16, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Jerry Weller officiating.  Burial will be in the Darby Cemetery in Schuyler County, Missouri.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Thursday with the family present from 6:00-8:00 pm.  Memorials in lieu of flowers have been established to the Bloomfield Care Center and the Darby Cemetery.
