Ivan Francis Baskett

Bloomfield:  Ivan Francis Baskett, 71, of rural Bloomfield, Iowa died November 12, 2008 at his son Ivan Lee’s home in Glenwood, Missouri.  He was born February 14, 1937 in Macon County, Missouri to Olen Francis and Nellie Bessie Zeigler Baskett.  He married Ramona L. Carder December 24, 1972 in Ottumwa, Iowa.  She preceded him in death December 18, 2004.  He was a farmer and a janitor at Evans Junior High in Ottumwa before retiring in 1992.  He was a member of the Mark Baptist Church in Mark, Iowa.

He is survived by 2 sons, Edgar Olen (Jessica) Baskett of Bonaparte, Iowa, Ivan Lee (Tina) Baskett of Glenwood, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Wayne, Grace, Faith, and Dalton Baskett; 2 sisters, Irene Weber of Kirksville, Missouri, Ina Mary (Bud) Young of Montrose, Iowa; 5 brothers, Ira Emmett Basket of Tempe, Arizona, Isaac (Karen) Baskett, Imon Owen Baskett, Ireland “Gene” Baskett all of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Irwin Dale Baskett of Marshalltown, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and 2 sisters, Ival Marie Snyder and Iris Koch.

Funeral services will be at 10:30am Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the Mark Baptist Church in Mark, Iowa with Pastor Gary Axtell officiating.  Burial will be at Hopkins Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa.  Visitation will begin after 9am on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8pm at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa.  Memorials have been established to the Mark Baptist Church and Hospice of Northeast Missouri.
