Harley Leon Lawson
BLOOMFIELD: Harley Leon Lawson, 86, of Albia, Iowa and former resident of Davis County, Iowa died November 29, 2008 at his home. He was born December 6, 1921 in Appanoose County, Iowa to Noah and Adaline Horn Lawson. He married Carolyn Wegman March 2, 1946 in Ottumwa, Iowa. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a farmer and had been a resident of Albia since 2003.
He is survived by his wife; 2 sons, Gary (Cindy) Lawson of Houston, Texas, Harold (Joye) Lawson of Bloomfield, Iowa; 2 daughters, Trish Russell of Albia, Dori (Steve) Chapdelaine of Lowell, Michigan; 7 grandchildren, Jason Russell of Altoona, Iowa, Julie Thompson of Albia, Jodi Russell of Coralville, Iowa, Lindsay Barta of Houston, Texas, Ashley Lawson of Denver, Colorado, Lauren Lawson of Dallas, Texas, Alexandra Chapdelaine of Lowell, Michigan; and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wilma Phillips; and a son-in-law, Bob Russell.
Graveside services will be at 10:30am Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa with Pastor DeWayne Lawson officiating. Visitation will begin after 9am on Wednesday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8pm at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Memorials have been established to the Davis and Wapello County Hospice and the Moulton 1st responders.
