BLOOMFIELD: Ruby Rook, 89 of rural Bloomfield died September 2, 2008 at her home. She was born July 11, 1919 in Japton, Arkansas to Joseph and Sarah Herriman Harvey. She married Henry Rook May 1, 1944 in Pensacola, Florida, he preceded her in death April 1, 1987. She was a resident of Davis County most of her life and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Midway Calvary Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She was a quilter and avid gardener.
She is survived by 3 sons Bradley, Forrest and Kent all of Bloomfield, Iowa; 4 daughters Carolyn Jean Danner of What Cheer, Iowa, Phyllis McCoy of Agency, Iowa, Kathy Sample of Bloomfield, Iowa and Marilyn Williams of Ottumwa, Iowa; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 grandsons Nicholas Rook and Jeremy Danner; a great grandson Johnathon Danner; 5 brothers; 3 sisters and 2 sisters in infancy.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Saturday September 6, 2008 at the Midway Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Baker officiating. Burial will be in the Kingdom Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Friday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with the family present from 6:00-7:00 pm. Memorials have been established to the Midway Calvary Baptist Church and Hospice, Inc. |
