LUCIA GRACE SWAIM DRAKESVILLE. LUCIA GRACE SWAIM, 93 of Drakesville, Iowa died January 25, 2008 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born February 6, 1914 in Hiteman, Iowa to Frank and Millie Shipley Hopkins. She married Charles D. Swaim, Sr. May 15, 1933 in Lancaster, Missouri. He preceded her in death April 19, 1997. She was a homemaker and farm wife in the Drakesville Lake Wapello area for 57 years. She is survived by 2 sons Charles “Toad” (Jean) Swaim and David (Lucy) Swaim both of Drakesville, Iowa; 5 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 16 step great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters Kathryn Eakins of Wickenburg, Arizona and Bettijane Mahoney of San Antonio, Texas and a brother Jack Hopkins of Tampa, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sisters Mattie Mooney and Mae Garner and a brother Max Hopkins. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday January 29, 2008 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Bill Eakins officiating. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery in Appanoose County, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Monday with the family present from 6:00-8:00 PM. A memorial has been established to Davis County Dollars for Scholars. |
