Robert C. Ward

TROY:  Robert C. Ward, 84, of Muscatine, Iowa and former resident of Davis County, Iowa died October 18, 2008 at the Unity Hospital in Muscatine, Iowa.  He was born March 12, 1924 in Houstonia, Missouri to Charles Clyde and Josie May Whitesett Ward.  He married Vivian Marie Tonkinson October 23, 1949 in Lockridge, Iowa.  He was employed at the Wilton Cheese Factory for 16 years and also worked for Per Mar Security at Monsanto for several years.  He served in the United States Navy on the USS Yorktown during WWII.  He was a member of Reed-Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield, Iowa.

He is survived by 4 daughters, Nancy Foor of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Dorothy Ward of Muscatine, Iowa, Judy (Dan) Haskins of Fruitland, Iowa, Tina (Russell) Jarvis of Troy, Iowa; a son, Thomas Ward of Reno, Nevada; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, William Walter Ward of Phoenix, Arizona, Everett Jr. Ward of Floris, Iowa, Fred Everett of Pleasant Plain, Iowa; and a sister, Lillie Pottsmith of Auborn, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clifford L. Everret; and 2 sisters, Hazel Wilson, and infant Marie Everett. 

Funeral services will be at 10am on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at the Troy United Methodist Church in Troy, Iowa with Pastor Donna Olinger officiating.  Burial with graveside military rites performed by Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion will be at the Troy Cemetery in Troy, Iowa.  Visitation will be from 9am until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church.  A memorial has been established to the American Diabetes Association.  Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa is assisting the family.
