Madeline Christy

BLOOMFIELD:  Madeline Christy, 89, of Bloomfield, Iowa died February 5, 2009 at Davis County Long Term Care in Bloomfield.  She was born May 31, 1919 in West Grove, Iowa to Austin and Eda Luse Bassett.  She married Johnnie Harold Lasley September 29, 1964 in Lancaster, Missouri.  He preceded her in death in 1981.  She later married Verne Wray Christy July 15, 1983 in Kirksville, Missouri.  He preceded her in death in 2004.  She graduated from Moulton High School in 1936 and from NMSU Teacher’s College in 1964.  She was a teacher in Drakesville, Troy, Moulton-Udell, and the Davis County School System during her career.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Moulton, Iowa.

She is survived by a brother, Wayne Bassett of Warner Robins, Georgia; nieces; and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and a brother, Wray Bassett.

Graveside Services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa with Pastor James Wakelin officiating.  Visitation will begin after 9am on Saturday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8pm at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
