George Everett Day

DAVENPORT:  George Everett Day, 68, of Davenport, Iowa died June 18, 2009 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, Iowa.  He was born July 26, 1940 in Batavia, Iowa to Everett Lee and Lorena Mary Welch Day.  He married Martha Jane Biller December 24, 1977 in Davenport.  He was a heavy truck mechanic.  He served in the United States National Guard and was a member of the Quad City IN-Fisherman Club.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Day; 5 sons, Doug Day of Bloomfield, Iowa, Dennis Day of Fort Collins, Colorado, Rodney Day of Bloomfield, Barry (Dana) Day of Bloomfield, Dave Seitz of Port Byron, Illinois; 2 daughters, Robin (Rick) Green of Geneseo, Illinois, Terry Seitz of Williamsburg, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Harry, Forest, and Robert Day; and 2 sisters, Mary Downey and Marcia Wilcoxson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Arnold Day.

Family and friends will be gathering at the West Lake Picnic Shelter in Davenport, Iowa from 3-9pm on Monday, June 22, 2009.  The family will also be present at the Batavia Community Hall in Batavia, Iowa at 3pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 with Rev. Phil Campbell sharing a few words.  Burial will be in the Batavia Cemetery in Batavia at a later date.  The body has been cremated.  Memorials have been established to Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties or to the family.
