Charles R. Gandy
PULASKI. Charles R. Gandy, 79 of Pulaski, Iowa died October 19, 2009 at Hospice House in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was born September 23, 1930 in Davis County, Iowa to Russell and Mernon Hamburg Gandy. He married Shirley Lorton November 22, 1952 in Davis County, Iowa. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a retired rubber worker from Armstrong in Des Moines.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Gandy of Altoona, Iowa; 3 sons Mike (Vicky) Gandy of Fairbault, Minnesota, Doug (Cindy) Gandy of Pulaski, Iowa and Tim Gandy of Norwoodville, Iowa; 3 daughters Diane (John) Wilcox of Grimes, Iowa, Deedie (Jim) Hildreth of Forest Lake, Minnesota and Toni (Larry) Fisher of Altoona, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a sister Dorothy Goldizen of Pulaski, Iowa and a brother-in-law Gary Lorton of Drakesville, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson Steven Gandy; a granddaughter Amber Gandy; a brother-in-law Roscoe Goldizen and a great grandson Aaron Anderson.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Friday October 23, 2009 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Darrell Zook officiating. Military rites by Reed Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion will follow the service at the funeral home. Visitation will begin at 9 am Thursday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8 pm. Burial of cremains will be at a later date. Memorials have been established to the Pulaski Fire Department and Hospice of Davis and Wapello Counties.
