Jimmie L. Huggins

BLOOMFIELD:  Jimmie L. Huggins, 75, of rural Bloomfield, Iowa died July 8, 2009 at his home.  He was born January 1, 1934 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Floyd and Golda F. Garmon Huggins.  He married Marietta Gilland August 27, 1955 in Floris, Iowa.  He owned and operated Floris Produce from 1957-1974 and worked as a mechanic in the construction business from 1974-1995.  He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Free Masonary 32 degree Mason, and was a past Master of the Eldon Lodge.  He was also a volunteer fireman for the Floris Fire Department, member of the Mid American Coon Hunters Association, and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 234.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Randy (Debbie) Huggins of Bloomfield, Iowa; 2 daughters, Peggy (Greg) Harris of Bloomfield, Becky (Greg) Lames of Floris, Iowa; 6 grandchildren, Tony (Lindy), Stephanie, Holly, Steve, Chris, Rachel; 4 great-grandchildren, Keagen and Jaden Campbell, Taylor and Payton Huggins; 7 brothers, Max and Stan Huggins of Bloomfield, Dwight Huggins of Newton, Iowa, Gary Huggins of Glendale, Arizona, Bill Huggins of Atkins, Iowa, Ronald Huggins of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Harold Huggins of Plano, Texas; and 2 sisters, Oma Munn of Washington, Iowa and Rose Grinstead of Bloomfield, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers, Eugene “Smoky” and Tom Huggins.

Funeral services will be at 10am on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Pastor Gordon Hawkins officiating.  Burial will be in the Floris Cemetery in Floris, Iowa.  Visitation will begin after 9am on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8pm at the funeral home.  A memorial has been established to the Floris Baptist Church.
