Lois Irene Johnson

BLOOMFIELD:  Lois Irene Johnson, 90, of Bloomfield, Iowa died June 8, 2009 at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield, Iowa.  She was born July 27, 1918 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Glen and Cora White Spurgeon.  She married Jason Johnson December 10, 1934 in Lancaster, Missouri.  She was a homemaker and a farm wife.

She is survived by her husband; 3 daughters, Corinne (Terry) Whitacre of Des Moines, Iowa, Betty (Bob) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Brenda (Francis) Herr of Palm Bay, Florida; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Hulen of Bloomfield, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Spurgeon of Bloomfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Shirley Johnson; a son, J.D. Johnson; and 3 brothers, Harvey, Vernon, and Virgil Spurgeon.

Funeral services will be at 1:30pm on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Rev. Richard Friend officiating.  Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery in Appanoose County, Iowa.  Visitation will begin after 9am on Thursday with the family present from 12:30pm until the time of the service.  A memorial has been established to the Alzheimer’s Association.
