BLOOMFIELD: Jason S. “Tootie” Johnson, 95, of Bloomfield, Iowa died October 4, 2009 at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield. He was born March 17, 1914 in Albia, Iowa to Selva and Bertha Stufflebeam Johnson. He married Lois Irene Spurgeon December 10, 1934 in Lancaster, Missouri. She preceded him in death June 8, 2009. He was a farmer, an auctioneer, and drove a maintainer for Davis County. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Corinne (Terry) Whitacre of Des Moines, Iowa, Betty Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Brenda (Francis) Herr of Palm Bay, Florida; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Kyle “Dude” Johnson of Drakesville, Iowa, Frank Johnson of Burlington, Iowa; and a half-brother, John Dittmer of Arvada Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant daughter, Shirley Johnson; a son, J.D. Johnson; 4 brothers, Olen, Lee, Ervin, and Orville Johnson; and 2 sisters, Crystal Arnold and Pauline Bell.
Funeral services will be at 1:30pm on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Rev. Richard Friend officiating. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery in Appanoose County, Iowa. Visitation will begin after 9am on Wednesday with the family present from 12:30pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. |
