ALBIA: Esther Carolyn Lawson, 82, of Albia, Iowa and former resident of Bloomfield, Iowa died March 4, 2009 at her home. She was born February 19, 1927 in Hoxie, Kansas to Edward and Anna Cremer Wegman. She married Harley L. Lawson March 2, 1946 in Ottumwa, Iowa. He preceded her in death November 29, 2008. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia, the Altar and Rosary Society and former member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Bloomfield. She was a homemaker and had lived in Albia since 2003.
She is survived by 2 sons, Gary (Cindy) Lawson of Houston, Texas, Harold (Joye) Lawson of Bloomfield, Iowa; 2 daughters, Trish Russell of Albia, Iowa, Dori (Steve) Chapdelaine of Lowell, Michigan; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 brothers, Clarence, Raymond, and Victor Wegman; a sister, Estella Gall; and a son-in-law, Bob Russell.
A memorial mass will be at 11am on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia with Rev. Mike Volkmer officiating. A rosary service will be at 10am on Saturday followed by family visitation until the time of the service. A memorial in lieu of flowers has been established to the Albia Senior Center. The body has been donated to the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology in Iowa City, Iowa. The cremains will be buried at a later date at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is assisting the family. |
