Marie Josephine Van Dorin
BLOOMFIELD: Marie Josephine Van Dorin, 79, of Bloomfield, Iowa went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 22, 1930 in Monroe County, Iowa to Ernfred and Mable Hazlett Johnson. She married Leo Van Dorin March 4, 1949 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Marie was a homemaker for many years and also worked as a CNA at the Ridgewood Care Center in Ottumwa, Iowa, a teacher’s aide at the Oskaloosa YMCA preschool, and was a volunteer at the Bloomfield Welcome Center. She was a member of the Church of the Open Bible in Bloomfield.
Marie is survived by her husband; 3 daughters, Rita Ashlock of Albia, Iowa, Glenda Kuchel of Des Moines, Iowa, Karen Daniel of Kansas City, Missouri; 3 sons, Bruce and Jerry Van Dorin of Eddyville, Iowa, Kevin Van Dorin of Albia, Iowa; a brother, William Johnson of St. Joseph, Missouri; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren;
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 daughters, Linda Porter, and infant Sandra; and 2 sisters, June Smiley and Evelyn Allison.
Funeral services will be at 10am on Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Pastor Charles Courtney officiating. Burial will be in the Moravia Cemetery in Moravia, Iowa. Visitation will begin after 1pm on Thursday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family, Church of the Open Bible in Bloomfield, or Look to the Stars Cancer Foundation in Bloomfield.
