BLOOMFIELD. Beverly Ann Horn Cowles, 69 of Bloomfield died February 13, 2010 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born May 15, 1940 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Robert R. and Gladys Spurgeon Hulen. She married Jack Horn June 7, 1959 in Bloomfield, Iowa. He preceded her in death June 29, 1981. She married Ed Cowles February 2, 1984 in Missouri. Beverly worked in various positions at the Davis County Hospital. She also worked at the Bloomfield Law Center and later managed the Columbia Regency mobile home park in Columbia, Missouri. Beverly was chairperson of the Davis County Democratic Party for several years.
She is survived by her mother, Gladys Hulen of Bloomfield; husband, Ed Cowles of Bloomfield; son, Jeff Horn of Bloomfield; 2 daughters Jennifer (Tony) Spargur and JaNill Horn both of Bloomfield; 2 stepsons Vic and Mark Cowles; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a brother Jim Hulen of Centerville, Iowa and 2 sisters Barbara Hurst of Centerville and Roberta Meyer of Bloomfield.
She was preceded in death by her father and husband.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm Wednesday February 17, 2010 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa. Visitation will begin after 11 am Tuesday, with the family present from 6-7 pm to greet friends. Memorials have been established to Hospice of Central Iowa and the Davis County Democratic Party.
