Ruth Ann Farley

BLOOMFIELD:  Ruth Ann Farley, 84, of Bloomfield, Iowa died August 21, 2010 at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield.  She was born August 17, 1926 in Milton, Iowa to Lee and Bertha Mae Olinger Hyde.  She married Kenneth V. Farley February 5, 1944 in Bloomfield.  He preceded her in death September 24, 1991.  Ruth Ann and Kenneth owned and operated Farley’s DX in Mark, Iowa for 35 years.  In 1993 Ruth Ann moved to Bloomfield and worked at the Bloomfield Public Library and the Davis County Welcome Center.  She loved getting visits from her children and grandchildren, often making sure they did not leave hungry.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, gardening and flowers.  She also liked watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and the San Antonio Spurs.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Brenda Danielson of Milan, Missouri, Barbara (Tony) Seibert of Moulton, Iowa, Sandy (Doug) Warning of Bloomfield; 3 sons, Richard (Patsy) Farley, of Winter Haven, Florida, Bill (Joyce) Farley of Bloomfield, John (Kimberly Dove) Farley of Davenport, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jane Hockersmith of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Linda Pitman; an infant son, Tommy Farley; and a sister, Mary Riney.

Funeral services will be at 11am on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Richard Farley officiating.  A private family burial will be in the Savannah Cemetery in Savannah, Iowa.  Visitation will begin after 9am on Monday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8pm at the funeral home.  Memorials have been established to the Friends of the Bloomfield Public Library and to the Davis County Welcome Center.
