Maxine Miller

BLOOMFIELD:  Marjorie Maxine Miller, 89, passed away August 12, 2010 in Greenville, South Carolina where she had been living for three years.  She was a lifelong resident of Bloomfield, Iowa where she and her husband, Vic Miller, operated Vic Millers Clothing for 28 years.  She was born August 4, 1921 in Davis County, Iowa to Clarence and Iva Fisk.  She graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1938.  Maxine and Vic were married for 59 years when he passed away on June 19, 2001. 

Maxine was an active member of the Bloomfield Christian Church where she served on various boards and committees.  She was a 50-year member of P.E.O., a 50-year member of T.T.T., as well as a member of Chapter #46 Order of the Eastern Star.  She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed golfing, and loved growing flowers and vegetables in her garden.  Maxine’s greatest love was being with her children, grandchildren (six grandsons and one granddaughter) and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Vicki Miller Sowinski and her husband Bob of Greenville, South Carolina; a son, Marc Miller of Bloomfield, Iowa; six grandsons, who will serve as pallbearers at her funeral, Gant Miller Sowinski (wife Meeghan) of Greenville, South Carolina, Nathan Marcus Sowinski (wife Angelia) of Greenville, South Carolina, Dane Joseph Sowinski of Columbia, South Carolina, Marcus Cree Miller (wife Candi) of Bloomfield, Christopher Wade Miller of Bloomfield, and Clay Ferguson Miller of Las Vegas, Nevada; a granddaughter, Jerah Ashley Sowinski of San Diego, California; seven great-grandchildren, who were the lights of her life in her later years, Randall and Solomon Miller, Nicholas and Gracie Miller, all of Iowa, Henry Callahan Sowinski (who was born of her birthday in 2005) of Greenville, South Carolina, and Ethan Tyler and Myles Bradley Sowinski of Greenville, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Donald Fisk; and a precious great-grandson, Luke Miller Sowinski.

The family will be at the home of Marc Miller, 106 Bloomfield Street, Bloomfield, Iowa.

Funeral services will be at 10:00am on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Bloomfield Christian Church with Pastor Stephen Bowie officiating.  Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.  Visitation will begin after 9am on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 7-8pm at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield.  A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield Christian Church.
