Esthermae Ellison

UNIONVILLE:  Esthermae Ellison, 78, of Unionville, Iowa died April 30, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.  She was born September 14, 1931 in Bloomfield, Iowa to George Albert and Carrie Agnes Sloan Stookesberry.  She married Donald Ellison February 10, 1957 in Bloomfield.  Esthermae was an operator for Northwestern Bell in Ottumwa for 20 years and later worked as a nurse’s aide at the Centerville Hospital.  She was a 57 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a charter member of the Unionville First Responders.  She enjoyed painting and knitting.

She is survived by her husband; 2 sons, Dwayne “Bird” (Shelia) Ellison of Moravia, Iowa, Charles (Susan) Ellison of Eddyville, Iowa; a daughter, Mary Kay (Dennis) Vanderheyden of Centerville, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a half-brother, Jim Stookesberry; a half-sister, Clara Miller; and a niece, Nona Olson.

Graveside services will be at 10:30am on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Taylor Cemetery in Appanoose County, Iowa with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating.  Visitation will begin after 9am on Tuesday with Eastern Star services by Centerville Chapter 239 Order of the Eastern Star beginning at 6pm followed by family visitation until 8pm at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
