Aleen Lister
BLOOMFIELD: Aleen LaVonne Lister, 91, of Ottumwa, Iowa and former resident of Davis County, Iowa died September 15, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa. She was born April 29, 1919 in Davis County, Iowa to Howard and Edna McManis Cook. She married Hubert Vern Lister January 21, 1939 in Bloomfield. He preceded her in death January 7, 1997. Aleen was an active member of the Stiles Christian Church teaching Sunday School Classes as well as a Vacation Bible School Leader. She helped start the IAMO Church Camp and volunteered there for several years. She was also an Adult Leader of the Little Women 4-H Club. Aleen was a homemaker and a farmwife. She greatly enjoyed gardening, embroidery, reading, dancing, board games, and of course, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Terry (Mary) Lister of Bloomfield, Iowa; 2 daughters, Diana (Jaime) Andrade of Evergreen, Colorado, Betty Lanore (Jerry) Hughes of Pinellas Park, Florida; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Curtis Cook; and two sisters, Viola Wardlow and Darlene Barkley.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Monday, September 20, 2010 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Kramer Smith and Fred Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin after 9am on Sunday with the family present to greet friends from 5:30-7:00 pm at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to IAMO Church Camp.
