Richard Warren Simmons

BLOOMFIELD:  Richard Warren Simmons, 85, of Bloomfield, Iowa died March 15, 2010 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield.  He was born July 1, 1924 in Lancaster, Missouri to Richard Warren Sr. and Lillian Elsia Blodgett Simmons.  He married June M. Reben October 30, 1945 in Preston, Minnesota.  He drove a rock crusher in San Bernardino, California.  Richard was a member of the Teamsters Local #63 Retirees in Rialto, California.  He enjoyed woodworking and yardwork.

He is survived by his wife; 2 sons, Dickie Wayne Simmons of Rialto, California, David Alan Simmons of Washington State; 2 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Eugene Simmons; a sister, Davis Elizabeth Lyons; and 2 brothers, Dale and William Simmons.

Graveside services will be at 10:30am Friday, March 19, 2010 at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa with Rev. Stephen Bowie officiating.  Open visitation will be from 9am until 7pm on Thursday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
