Melvin “Bud” James Stigers, Jr.

PULASKI.  Melvin “Bud” James Stigers, Jr., 66 of Pulaski, Iowa and formerly of Van Buren County died February 16, 2010 at his home.  He was born September 4, 1943 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Melvin John and Ila Grace Evans Stigers.  He married Claudia Ann Ross November 30, 1963 in Lancaster, Missouri.  She preceded him in death January 10, 1995.  He was a heavy equipment operator working in construction.  He liked being outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.  Melvin loved animals.

He is survived by 2 daughters  Deanna (Randy) Norman of Pulaski and Jackie (Karl) Bulen of Bloomfield; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandsons; his father Melvin Stigers, Sr. of Bloomfield; 3 sisters Jean Steele of Montezuma, Iowa, Joan Ornduff of Troy, Iowa and Joyce Buckallew of Missouri and a son-in-law Steve Silvers.

He is preceded in death by his mother; wife; daughter Tammy Silvers and a granddaughter Alyssa Norman.

Visitation will begin at 9 am Sunday, February 21, 2010 with the family present from 2-4 pm to greet friends, at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa.  The body has been cremated.  A memorial has been established to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
