Florence Roberts

TROY: Florence Elaine Roberts, 73, of Troy, Iowa died January 15, 2012 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, Iowa. She was born August 28, 1938 in Davis County, Iowa to Guy E. and Mary Gibson Smith. She married Arlo D. Roberts June 21, 1958 in Pulaski, Iowa. She worked at the Davis County Hospital as a surgical operating room technician, then retired as head cook. Florence was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Troy Mother’s Club, Troy Quilting Club, Card Club, and the Davis County “A” Club.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Brian (Rhonda) Roberts, Eric (Tammy) Roberts both of Bloomfield; a daughter, Julie (Louie) Hill of Darien, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Kristin (Craig) Hampton, Kendal Hill, Preston, Austin, Colton, and Mason Roberts, Kylie and Kaitlyn Graves; two great-grandchildren, Jack and Ben Hampton; two step-great-grandchildren, Emma McIntyer, Drake Ratzlof; three brothers, Keith (Kay) Smith of Troy, Iowa, Barry (Doris) Smith of Clive, Iowa, Michael (Shirley) Smith of Bloomfield, Iowa; and three sisters, Marcia (Jerry) Lippert of Coralville, Iowa, Pam (Jim) Davison and Diana Lawson both of Bloomfield, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dwight Roberts; two sisters, Carolyn Ensminger, Estellene McClurg; and a brother, Ronald Smith.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial will be at the Troy Cemetery in Troy, Iowa. Visitation will begin after 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday with the family present to greet friends from 5-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Davis County “A” Club and Davis County Dollars for Scholars.
