BLOOMFIELD: Francis H. Dewes, 84, of Bloomfield, Iowa died April 22, 2012 at his home. He was born October 4, 1927 in St. John, Indiana to Albert and Matilda Schidt Dewes. He married Billie Marijean Dickson October 14, 1950 in Lowell, Indiana. Francis was a farmer and was a seed corn salesman with Golden Harvest. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and the Bloomfield Country Club. He enjoyed painting, golfing, fishing, and hunting.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Gene (Lori) Dewes of Bloomfield, Iowa; three daughters, Pam (John) Strachan, Vicki (Jake) Scott both of Bloomfield, Janna Sue (Bruce) May of Bonne Terre, Missouri; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph (Juanita) Dewes of Lowell, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Allen Dewes; eight brothers; and three sisters.
A family and friends gathering will be held from 4-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. The body has been cremated and no services are planned. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Friends of the Bloomfield Public Library and Good Samaritan Hospice.
