BLOOMFIELD: George D. Gingerich, 92, of rural Bloomfield, Iowa died May 13, 2012 at his home. He was born November 12, 1919 in Greentown, Indiana to Dan C. and Dorothea Miller Gingerich. He married Emma Yoder February 26, 1942 in Kokomo, Indiana. She preceded him in death July 22, 2003. George was a farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish.
He is survived by seven sons, Dewey (Katie) Gingerich, Herman (Bertha) Gingerich, Harley Gingerich, Mervin (Mary) Gingerich, Nelson (Mary) Gingerich all of Bloomfield, Iowa, Ora Gingerich of Wolcottville, Indiana Jerry (Lena) Gingerich of Hunnewell, Missouri; a daughter, Irene (Daniel) Yoder also of Bloomfield; 66 grandchildren; and 117 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a daughter; a son; two brothers; four sisters; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Mervin Gingerich residence at 19070 180th St., Bloomfield, Iowa. Minister in Charge will be Bishop John Earl Kuhns. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa. Visitation will be all day on Monday and from 2-4:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Mervin Gingerich residence.
