BLOOMFIELD: Helen Blew, 85, of Bloomfield, Iowa died May 16, 2012 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield. She was born July 17, 1926 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Richard and Manie Ruth Waller Donaldson. She married Chastle Blew April 16, 1946 in Bloomfield, Iowa. He preceded her in death December 23, 1991. Helen was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and knitting. She was a member of the Dunnville Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school and bible school teacher for several years. She was also a member of the Dunnville Baptist Church Sewing Club.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Blew of Ottumwa, Iowa, Roger Blew of Drakesville, Iowa; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Irene Burdette of Ottumwa, Bonnie (John) Shepherd of Bloomfield, Grace “Pat” Helmick of Drakesville, and Jackie Carlberg of Blakesburg, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Keith Donaldson; a sister, Margaret Dommer; and a grandson, Charles Weeks Jr.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Marvin Martin officiating. Burial will be at the Dunnville Cemetery in Davis County. Visitation will begin after 9:00 a.m. on Sunday with the family present to greet friends from 3-5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Dunnville Baptist Church.
