PULASKI: David Alan Thaxton, 60, of Pulaski, Iowa died July 3, 2012 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center. He was born September 28, 1951 in Long Beach, California to Joseph Henry and Helen Louise Wentzel Thaxton. He married Candy Strawhacker August 15, 1987 in Bloomfield. David served in the United States Coast Guard during Vietnam and was an over-the-road truck driver. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing, and collecting knives and guns. He loved his family and would help anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Scott (Kendra) Thaxton of Woodson, Illinois, Chris (Ashley Lindly) Thaxton of Pulaski; a daughter, Danielle (partner Danny Powell) Gordon of Attalla, Alabama; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike Rockot of Kirksville, Missouri, John Rockot of Savannah, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2012 with the family present to greet friends from 1-3:00 p.m. at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Cremation will follow the visitation. A memorial has been established to the family.
