BLOOMFIELD: Marjorie Pauline Smallwood, 85, of Oskaloosa, Iowa and former resident of Bloomfield, Iowa died July 29, 2012 at the Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa. She was born December 4, 1926 in Hedrick, Iowa to Clarence and Dovie Violet Eakins Cook. She married Carl “Emo” Smallwood July 1, 1956 in Bloomfield. He preceded her in death August 13, 1983. Marjorie was a homemaker. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa and the O.K. Bunch.
She is survived by two daughters, Carla (T.J.) Fletcher, Charlotte (Randy) Winkleman both of Oskaloosa, Iowa; two sons, Michael Smallwood of Fairfield, Iowa, Joe Dean Smallwood of Moberly, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Roberts of Drakesville, Iowa, Lucy Balcom of Missoula, Montana; and two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Cook of Libertyville, Iowa and Dorothy Cook of Stockton, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two great-grandsons, Brent and Bentley Weber; six brothers, Elvin, Paul, William, Robert, Clarence Jr., and Charles Cook; and five sisters, Thelma Garmon, Mary Montgomery, Ruth Sheston, Dorothy Pickrell, and Helen Netherton.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bill Eakins officiating. Burial will be at the Bloomfield South Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday with the family present to greet friends from 6-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to her family.
