DRAKESVILLE: Fredrick Marion Rupe, 90, of Drakesville, Iowa died August 14, 2012 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield. He was born February 14, 1922 in Pueblo, Colorado to Fred and Hettie Streeby Rupe. He married Helen A. Farris May 19, 1945 in Bloomfield. She preceded him in death June 10, 2002. Marion was a third generation berry farmer and worked at the Ottumwa Morrell Plant as well as Lowenberg Bakery also in Ottumwa and later for FALCO in Fairfield. He enjoyed gardening, coon hunting, and “coffee time” at the Quick Time in Drakesville. He was a member of the Mid-America Coon Hunters Association where he served as secretary for several years.
He is survived by a son, Wilbur (Cynthia Ware-Rupe) Rupe of Ottumwa, Iowa; two daughters, Vickie (Floyd) Glandon of Ottumwa, Teresa (Rodney) Scott of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, Randy Rupe; three brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Dave Albert officiating. Burial will be at the Fiedler Cemetery in Wapello County, Iowa. Visitation will begin after 9:00 a.m. on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to his family.
