BLOOMFIELD: William Lawrence Williams, 92, of Bloomfield, Iowa died September 3, 2012 at Davis County Hospital Long Term Care. He was born July 1, 1920 in Fairland, Oklahoma to Andrew and Nannie Munden Williams. He married June Harris June 22, 1940 in Mendota, Missouri. She preceded him in death December 13, 1999. Lawrence worked at the John Morrell Plant in Ottumwa and was also a farmer. He was an avid gardener and naturalist who loved working on his small farm. He also enjoyed the companionship of his two dogs, Sammy and Sheppie.
He is survived by two daughters, Carol (Butch) Hale of Floris, Iowa, Barbara Miller of Ottumwa, Iowa; a son, Roy (Jane) Williams of Brookfield, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; and 18-great-granchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a daughter, Lois Reeves; a grandson, Rick Hale; two great-granddaughters, Kayla and Kassie Hale; two brothers; and six sisters.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield with Pastor Gordon Hawkins officiating. Open visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. A memorial has been established to First Resources Home and Community Based Services to assist individuals with disabilities.
