Jo Ann Dixon

Jo Ann McConnell Dixon, 89, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on November 22, 2020 at Bloomfield Care Center. She was born September 16, 1931 in Davis County, Iowa to Rollo G. and Fae Goodlander McConnell. She graduated from Bloomfield High School and then married William “Bill” Dixon on October 11, 1951 in Bloomfield, Iowa. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2001. Bill passed away on July 4, 2005. She was employed as a Civil Service Secretary with Airway Services Corporation in Washington D.C. during the Korean War. After moving back to Davis County, she was employed by A.S.C.S as a secretary and then with REC until retirement. JoAnn was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, square dancing, picnics, water skiing and visiting with her friends during the daily coffee talks. She enjoyed traveling to 49 of the states, as well as staying home and avidly reading a book per day. She loved animals, crafting and gardening, but mostly she looked forward to spending time with her daughters and their families. She is survived by her daughters, Denise (Bill) Hinton of Bloomfield, Iowa, Leslie Jill (Tim) Shipley of Bois D’Arc, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer (Joseph) Ramacher of Waikoloa, Hawaii, Hailey (Brian) Vogeler of Eldon, Missouri, Cody Hinton of Bloomfield, Iowa, Lindsey Drew of Brookline, Missouri, Jessica (Paul) Renfrew of Drakesville, Iowa, Josiah Seth (Marissa) Shipley of Billings, Missouri, Justin (Madison) Wilkinson of Ottumwa, Iowa, Kalyn (Zach) Pirwitz of Republic, Missouri, Jillian (Andrew) Woodhead of Clever, Missouri, Alisha (Ben) Rahn of Republic, Missouri, and Ashlyn Shipley of Springfield, Missouri; and 16 great-grandchildren, Asher Vogeler, Zachary Vogeler, Grace Vogeler, Uriah Drew, Ezra Drew, Haven Ruby Drew, Crew Renfrew, Paisley Shipley, Stella Shipley, Allison Wilkinson, Lincoln Wilkinson, Rowen Pirwitz, Raef Pirwitz, Theo Woodhead, Arlett Rahn and Alba Rahn. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Debra Wilkinson Dawson; and two brothers, Robert McConnell, Jean McConnell. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield with Pastor Tim Shipley officiating. Due to Covid-19, no visitation is planned.
