Randy Small

Randy Russel Small, 65, of Bloomfield, Iowa, fought a long hard health battle and passed away on June 30, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. He was born May 3, 1955 in Memphis, Missouri to Vancel and Roberta “Cookie” Buford Small. He married Sandy McCartney and they later divorced. He married Connie McKeehan on March 3, 2001 in Memphis, Missouri. Randy was a farmer, over-the-road truck driver, and drove for many Amish in the community. He also co-owned Davis County Lanes and spent many hours enjoying the kids and visitors at the bowling alley. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and woodworking. His absolute favorite thing was spending time with his kids and being ornery with grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Connie Small; six children, Reggie (Stephanie) Small of Bloomfield, Ronnie “Spud” Small of Wapello, Iowa, Brittany (Sean) McCarty of Ottumwa, Iowa, Briana (Zeb Black) Small of Douds, Iowa, Bobbi (Brett Dean) Small of Bloomfield, Beau Small of Bloomfield; two bonus Children, Kaylynn (Matt Jackson) Norman of Bloomfield, Kristina Burns of Bloomfield; 20 grandchildren, Madelynn, Jessica, and Alyssa Small, Tyreece, Zander, and Brynn Small, Jayden, Jace, Ada, Abby, Ally, and Kori Jackson, Carson Norman, Marlee and Maeleigh Dean, Mickey and Maleah Burns, Hope and Viola Brammer, Jaiven Jacob; and eight siblings, Jesse (Vicki) Small of Arbela, Missouri, Dale (Dixie) Small of Winchester, Missouri, Leanna Holdren of Baring, Missouri, Jody (Lisa) Small of Memphis, Missouri, Lynnette “Buffy” Bell of Memphis, Bobby (Shelley) Small of Memphis, Angel Arnold of Memphis, and John (Tonya) Small of Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Karlee Norman. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2020 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Tim Frasher officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at noon on Sunday with the family present to greet friends from 2-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to his family. As Randy would say, “It’s not goodbye, it’s Merry Christmas.”
