Carl Bales

Carl Wayne Bales, 80, of Pulaski, Iowa passed away on June 6, 2025 at his home with his family present. He was born on April 14, 1945 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Delphin and Marita (Hawkins) Bales. He spent his childhood growing up in Floris, Iowa, and graduated from Davis County High School in 1963. Carl met Nancy Moine while living in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and they married on April 10, 1965, in Strawberry Point, Iowa. They were blessed with four children; Jesse, twins Dennis and Denise, and Todd. Carl and Nancy (family) lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Durand, Wisconsin, Floris, Iowa, and Bloomfield, Iowa. Carl and Nancy finally settled in Pulaski, Iowa. Carl enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially hunting, fishing, gardening and mowing. He loved driving his semi-truck and enjoyed an occasional game of Texas Hold ‘Em. His passion was sports, including coaching all three of his boys in baseball in their earlier years. He enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Minnesota Vikings and especially his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. Some of the special things he experienced were watching the Cardinals win the 2006 World Series at Busch Stadium and going to both the Football and Baseball Hall of Fame with all of his boys. Carl is survived by his beautiful wife of 60 years, Nancy Bales of Pulaski, Iowa; four children, Jesse Bales of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dennis (Lori) Bales of Kearney, Missouri, Denise (Danny Jr.) Harris of Pulaski, Iowa, Todd (Ivone) Bales of Jatai, Brazil; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Bales. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Delphin and Marita Bales; three brothers, Dean Bales, Robert Bales, Larry Bales; sister, Martha Clark; his mother/father-in-law, Lula and Harry Tweed; and his brother-in-law, Bill Moine. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Don Combs officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City and Look to the Stars Cancer Foundation in Davis County. The family is encouraging anyone attending the visitation or funeral to wear St. Louis Cardinals attire as Carl would like that. “Go Birds!”
