Cheryl McClure

Cheryl Rae McClure, 78, of Bellevue, Nebraska and former resident of Creston, Iowa and Ottumwa, Iowa passed away on March 29, 2023 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born on June 21, 1944 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Raymond Albert Coughlin and Ruth Irene (Freed) Coughlin. She married Glen Gene McClure on September 6, 1964 in Ottumwa, Iowa. Cheryl lived in Ottumwa for 40 years before moving to Creston, where she then lived the next 30 years. In 2019 she moved to Bellevue, Nebraska to be closer to family. Cheryl was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. During her tenure she held numerous leadership positions which included President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. She also was voted Girl of the year and Christmas Angel. She recently was honored with the Diamond Excellence Award for celebrating 60 years as a member. She was also an employee of Hy-Vee Food when she retired in 2007 with 31 years of dedicated service. Cheryl loved her dogs, playing cards, camping, bowling, crafting, Nascar Racing, and of course her beloved grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, sister Mickey Joan (Steve) Sims of Haslet, TX; two sons Larry Gene (Michele) McClure of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Lonnie Ray (Damaris) McClure of Woodstock, Georgia; six grandchildren, Caroline, Julianne, Danielle, Marianne, Michael and Thomas; brother-in-law, Michael Craig McClure; one niece, Jessica Lynn; three nephews, Jason (Marci) Sims, Jeff (Michaela) Sims, Dustin (Kelsey) McClure; five great-nephews; and one great-niece. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister, Wanda Irene Coughlin. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Pastor Matt Froah officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Monday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and St. Croix Hospice.
