Clair Belle Wilson

Clair Belle (Nicoli) Wilson, 91, of Queen City, Missouri and former resident of Drakesville, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. She was born on January 28, 1924 in Hedrick, Iowa to John William and Vernie Smithart Nicoli. She married Victor Craig Wilson on December 29, 1940 in Lancaster, Missouri. To this union three children were born, Robert Craig, Victor Michael, and Nancy Sue. Her husband Victor passed away on April 25, 1989. She later married Howard Coe on June 21, 1997 in Albia, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2003. Clair Belle served several terms as the Drakesville Mayor and also worked at the Drakesville Post Office for several years. She loved baking pies and making noodles. Friends could always find a pot of coffee and a slice of pie at her home regardless of when they dropped by for a visit. She enjoyed Blue Grass Music and square dancing. After retirement, she discovered quilting and made numerous quilts for her family, all hand quilted. Clair Belle loved traveling via Amtrak to visit family in New Mexico and would make a yearly trip with her daughter, Nancy and sister-in-law, Audrey Wilson. The three made this trip for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Glenwood, Missouri and transferred her membership to the Lancaster United Methodist Church when the church in Glenwood closed. She is survived by her children, Robert (Linda) Wilson of Glenwood, Missouri, Victor (Kristin) Wilson of Urbana, Missouri, Nancy (Roger) Lucas of Lancaster, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, David (Susan) Wilson, Robin (Jim) Davies, Joshua (Amanda) Wilson, Marnie (Will) Andrews, Erin (Brian) Wagner, Noel Wilson, Cindie Wilson, Michelle Johnson, Geoffrey (Brenda) Wilson, Tabatha (Dan) Hood, Heather (Jeffery) Luders; six step-grandchildren, Justin (Olivia) Mead, Jackie (Tad) Burks, Jeanne Steen, Becky Martin, Kate (Justin) Peterson, Andrew (Angie) Coe; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Hershel Warren; four brothers and their wives, Harry and Juanita Cunningham Nicoli, Johnny and Betty Hobbs Nicoli, Bobby and Mary Mincks Nicoli, and Bruce and Joy Cook Nicoli. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Burial will be at the Drakesville Cemetery. The casket bearers will be her grandsons. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday with the family present to greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. A memorial has been established to the Drakesville Cemetery.
