Karl Kinnamon

Karl Dean Kinnamon, 85, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on August 9, 2023 at the Bloomfield Care Center. He was born on January 21, 1938 in Davis County, Iowa to Holland “Jake” and Annabel “Becky” Hoskin Kinnamon. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1956. Karl joined the Air Force in 1959 and served at the Richards-Gebaur AFB until his discharge in 1964. On December 16, 1960 he married Leona Ferguson in Kansas City, Missouri. Leona passed away on February 2, 2014. Karl started working for UPS in 1964. After a few years of delivering door to door he started driving over the road between hubs. He made countless trips from Kansas City to the St. Louis area and then later from Kansas City to Ames, Iowa before his retirement in 1995. Karl and Leona built a home and moved to Davis County in 1996. While living in Davis County he enjoyed the country life and spent a lot of time fishing, gardening, and hunting. He especially enjoyed turkey, quail, and pheasant hunting. Karl was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and golfer. Several days a week he would golf 27 holes at the Lancaster Country Club. Karl also loved to travel with his wife and they made many trips to Branson over the years. He was a family man and cherished his time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Karla (Jerry) Roof of Grandview, Missouri; son, David Kinnamon of Orlando, Florida; three grandsons, Jeremy Roof of Grandview, Zach Roof, Jake Roof both of Belton, Missouri; and two brothers, Ken (Anne) Kinnamon of Smithville, Missouri, Lonnie (Beth) Kinnamon of Overland Park, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Thom Bryant officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield with military rites performed by Reed-Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion. Visitation will begin at noon on Monday with the family present to greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. A memorial has been established to the Davis County Historical Society for the preservation of the Savannah Christian Church
