Kenneth Bulechek

Kenneth Anthony “Kenny” Bulechek, 79, of West Grove, Iowa passed away on August 16, 2021 at his home. He was born December 8, 1941 in Solon, Iowa to Anthony “Tony” and Doris Elliott Bulechek. He lived in Solon until the age of 25, then moved to Alabama for 8 years, before moving to Downing, Missouri. He met Karen Egbert on June 17, 1972. They married on June 30, 1973. They moved to West Grove in March of 1974, where they have resided for the last 47 years. While in Alabama, he had a junkyard and cut paper wood. In Downing, he worked at McGraw Edison working on fans and painting. After moving to West Grove, he continued his junkyard business, owned Bulechek Trucking, worked at Pipers, and retired from Southern Iowa Diesel in 2003. He enjoyed going to mud runs and derbies, spending time with family, listening and dancing to country music, working in his junkyard, riding horses, fishing, trucking, feeding the birds, and riding the golf cart. He is survived by his wife, Karen of West Grove; children, Kurt (Sierra) of West Grove, Korie (Jeremy) Salladay of Udell, Kevin (Melissa Weeks) of West Grove, Ken (Denise) of Tennessee, Kathy Downs of North Carolina, Billy (Shannon) of South Carolina; grandchildren, Brogan (Taylor) Banks, Brigen, Brason, Brexton, and Bralynn Bulechek, Dexter and Sage Salladay, Hank and Lexus Bulechek, Hope, Stephen, and Faith Downs, Jennifer, Jessica, and Emily Bulechek; brother, Robert (Arlene) Bulechek of Greentop; two sisters, Nancy Sanchez of Texas, and Christina Bulechek of Mississippi; along with his two faithful sidekicks, Bear and Duke. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronnie; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Bernice Egbert; sister-in-law, Carolyn Teubel; brothers-in-law, Duane Egbert, Dennis Teubel, Paul Underwood, Terrell Hill; nephew, Eric Teubel; and great-nephew, Marco Lagunas. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Gary Russell officiating. Burial will be at the West Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the West Grove Township Hall.
