Michael Baughman

Michael Lynn Baughman, 78, and longtime resident of Pulaski, Iowa left this life on November 29, 2024 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, Iowa. He was born June 11, 1946 in Pulaski to Harlan Tracy and Florence Bollman Baughman. He was a 1964 graduate of Keokuk High School in Keokuk, Iowa. He married Deborah Helmick on August 5, 1967 at the Pulaski Methodist Church. They are parents to Zachary (Jenn), Andrew (Beth), and Cole; grandparents to Wyatt (Ericka), Aidan (Kaia), Lexi, and Sawyer. Mike was a patriot and proudly served his country in the Army and did a tour in Vietnam. He operated a road grader for Davis County Secondary Roads for 30+ years, blading miles of snowy roads over the years. He was a voracious reader, history buff, and trivia whiz. He enjoyed watching movies - especially in black and white. Mike was a member of the Current River Canoers and loved that group of friends who had made mischief for 50 years. A memorable highlight after retirement was taking a trip to Alaska, driving for a month with dear friends and all safely arriving home without killing each other. He is survived by his wife; children; grandchildren; sister, Marlene Hayes; in-laws, Donna Smithhart, Jean McAntire, Jan and Leroy Griffith, Sharon and Del Pattison, Sara and Matt Cregar, Kate Milligan, Andi and Kevan Bogert; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be dearly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Betty Shumate, Norma Lee Harl, Jim Baughman, Sharon Bruns Augspurger and their spouses; parents-in-law, Harold and Nancy Helmick; brothers-in-law, Roger Hayes, Les Smithhart, Mike McAntire, Fred Clow, Dave Helmick; and sisters-in-law, Charlene Clow, Carolyn Baughman, and Pat Christy. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Cremation will follow the service with inurnment at the Pulaski Cemetery in Spring 2025. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the Davis County Veterans Affairs and the Pulaski Park for planting trees.
