Randy McFarland

Randy Lee McFarland of Bloomfield, Iowa left this earthly life on October 10th, 2023 at the age of 72. Randy was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on September 11th, 1951 to Clifford Edwin McFarland and LaNora LaRue McFarland. Randy graduated from Davis County High School in 1969. On July 14, 1973 he married Deanna Sue Lunsford at the Bloomfield Christian Church. The couple have raised three children; Jeremy, Stacy, Melinda, and just celebrated their 50-year-anniversary. Randy worked for Davis County Schools from 1978-2000 as a custodian and for Moravia Community Schools from 2000-2005 as a maintenance director. After Randy retired in 2005, he became a driver for an Amish construction crew. Randy enjoyed many outdoor activities such as mowing the yard and driving around the farm on the Ranger. He also loved archery and planting his food plots for the upcoming hunting season. In addition, Randy appreciated muzzleloading and rendezvous when his children were younger. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and was involved in their lives as much as possible. He also spent a lot of time with his nephew, Chad Biggerstaff, and niece, Amy Gansmann. Randy is survived by his wife, Deanna McFarland; two sons, Jeremy (Lindsey) McFarland of Bloomfield, Stacy (Amy) McFarland of Creston, Iowa; daughter, Melinda (Jesse) Replogle of Moulton, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Clayton and Rachel McFarland, Carter and Kenzie Replogle, Gus, Leo, Mac, Joe, and Ike McFarland; and three sisters-in-law, Cheryl McFarland of Jefferson City, Missouri, Cindy McFarland of Agency, Iowa and Karen McFarland of Springfield, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clifford Deverne McFarland, Darrell McFarland, Courtney McFarland; and a sister, Shirrell Biggerstaff. Randy’s wish was to be cremated. Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be held on Saturday, October 14th from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. The family will have a private burial at the Drakesville Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Sharon Bluff Bible Camp to help restore the bath house area.
