Aleda Fleming

Aleda Lea Fleming, 85, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on January 16, 2022 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born on April 2, 1936 in Bloomfield to Clarence Alfonso Rupe and Naomi LaRue Yates. She graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1954. Aleda married Richard Lee Fleming on November 22, 1956 in Hernando, Mississippi. Richard passed away on December 3, 2000. Aleda worked as a dietician at the Southeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging in Burlington, Iowa and at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield; retiring after 35 years of being a dietician. She attended the First Church of Christ while living in Burlington and attended St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church while living in Bloomfield. Aleda loved to crochet and needle point. She made many table cloths, doilies, afghans, and pillow covers over the years. She also liked doing crossword puzzles. She is survived by children, Douglas Fleming of Bloomfield, Larry Fleming of Texas, Richard Fleming of Mattoon, Illinois; daughter, Debra Swisher of Danville, Illinois; five grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Arnold of Bloomfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; sister, Wannetta Brunk; and brother, Archie Rupe. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Father Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation with family present will be from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield Care Center Activity Fund.
