Betty Jean Murray Hilbert, 91, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away peacefully on October 5, 2016 at the Bloomfield Care Center with family by her side. She was born May 18, 1925 in Maitland, Missouri to Guy Raymond and Gladys Marie Murray. Betty most enjoyed serving others, which she proved from childhood well into her later years of life. She was married in St. Joseph, Missouri to Lawrence Hilbert of Skidmore, Missouri on August 25, 1945. Together they raised four sons. In her younger years, Betty enjoyed entertaining in her home and making lifelong connections including the connection she had made with her best friend Eula Dean. Betty was a particular woman, her house was always spotless and her hair and makeup always perfect. Especially that signature pink lipstick. Betty was an amazing cook that loved to serve anyone every chance she got. What She loved the most was spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She also loved spending the weekends at garage and estate sales with Lawrence trying to find the best deals. Betty will be remembered most by her infectious laugh and sweet spirit. Betty is survived by four sons, Larry (Betty) Hilbert of Salina, Kansas, Ricky (Carrie) Hilbert of Mound City, Missouri, Roger Hilbert of Bennett, Colorado, John (Becky) Hilbert of Bloomfield; twelve grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Lawrence; three sisters, Mary, Hope, and Maxine; and two brothers, Jack and Bill. Graveside services with burial of the cremated remains will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the Maitland Cemetery in Maitland, Missouri. Pastor Gary Axtell will officiate. A luncheon will be served after the service at the American Legion Hall in Maitland. A memorial has been established to the Maitland Cemetery.
