Betty Judd

Betty Jean Judd, 96, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on March 20, 2022 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born on May 9, 1925 in Davis County, Iowa to Jordan “Jurd” and Emma Patterson Richardson. She married Leroy Judd in York, Nebraska. The couple had two children, James and Connie. Leroy passed away in 1992. Betty was an elementary school teacher for Davis County Community Schools for over 40 years. She loved being a teacher and her students were very important to her. She was an active member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church. She also volunteered countless hours as an election clerk. Betty enjoyed playing cards with friends, sewing, planting flowers, and loved to cook and bake – especially around the holidays. She was active in the Davis County Historical Society and helped keep important local historical information up to date. Betty will be missed greatly by her family and friends. She is survived by a son, Jim Judd of Millington, Illinois; daughter, Connie (Larry) Oaks of Bloomfield; grandson, Mike (Leslie) Oaks of Bondurant, Iowa; great-granddaughter, Samantha Oaks of Bondurant; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Dawn Judd-Brown; and sister, Vera Pottorff. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. John D. Boatman officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials have been established to Davis County Dollars for Scholars and the Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
